I saw Cvit did a video on some old PS2 action games. Part 2 is coming at some point and pretty sure it will include Chaos Legion.

Last time he posted he was playing it he was getting destroyed and asked if he was missing something. I tell him yes, a lot. He immediately gets defensive and says 'well the game doesn't show it.'

I bring this up because he recently posted about some game I think a new Yakuza game and how he was going to do tons of testing with each character. Why can he do it with one game but not another and post stupid shit?

Also, his only issue with AC6 is the subtitle size and it's game of the year.

Yeah I might.

He was the same with his The Sword Of Etheria video. Seems he didn't even know about the slide attack that can scoop enemies up off the ground. Wouldn't respond to this either. He just gets defensive and stops replying.

He would rather stick with his own belief and run from my Twitter posts. I didn't even make him look stupid (yet).

Why oh why do these dumbasses not listen?

Why do they make stupid public statements without research? He could've engaged with me and learnt everything.

Yes I know that game inside and out.

It's decent. Not complex but has its stuff. I wrote a guide for it and posted here. It's either in the tactical forum or dedicated thread.

Any specific questions?

The directional system sounds cool. Reminds me of the Streets of Rage games and how the AI is programmed to get behind you and the back-attack you have for those situations.
The game is pretty cheap on ebay so I might pick it up.
About how long is it?
How are the harder difficulties?

Yeah I finished it last year, good game overall. Abit like Onimusha but the combat's better and more open because you can jump and even do some ariel combos. It does have its flaws but I'd say it's definitely worth a playthrough.

I think hard mode removes leveling up. You can still raise stats with those magic crystals. They drop non-stop in hard.
You also can't use shops so the only equipment you get is from a few chests. No crafting the super strong stuff.

I did a no upgrade run on hard many years ago so the RPG stuff is not essential.

->Harder difficulties
That sounds kinda cool actually. I kinda like the idea of a harder difficulty almost forcing a restriction run. It's not a bad choice if the devs are short for time or cash, but still want the harder difficulties to be more than just more health and damage for enemies.

-> grabs
Yeah I glanced at Benkei's section in your guide. Impaling fools sounds fun.

-> Onimusha
Started playing the first game years ago on PS2. I kept dying and I didn't have the strength to keep sitting through the unskippable cutscenes (this was my first experience with tank controls cut me some slack. I'm better now guys really I am).
Just a few months ago I found a copy of Genma Onimusha (which fixes the cutscene issue I believe) at my local game store for 3 bucks. And now I got my OG Xbox hooked up to my CRT with a crispy looking S-Video cable. So no more excuses I gotta play that soon.

All of this aside, his list shows quite a good number of games, some of which I've never heard of. The question is if those obscure games are any good. Also I have a vague memory of renting that Ghost Rider game from my local library as a kid. Seems like there was a style meter of some kind, the chains kinda were GOW-ish, I think most of the game took place in hell or something, and I feel like a lot of levels were reused through out the game. But I was like 7 at the time so I really can't remember it with any reliable accuracy.

Some advice, and a bit of a meta-vent for this forum that was triggered by the FF16 thread: Stop letting YouTubers/reviewers like Gaming Brit, Cvit, or whoever get to you. You've hated them for years, and it's clear that you don't like their priorities, think they're too occupied with their own preferences to meet the games on their own terms, and don't believe they're ever going to get better. Ignore their videos, and ignore their channel.

And I get that this is the vent thread, and is supposed to be a place where you vent or let out your frustrations about dumb people on the internet, but I think it's generally better to not put yourself into a situation where you would feel the need to do that in the first place.

Personally, I haven't watched a single video from either of them. Just amused by the fact that, from the descriptions I see about them, they can be this lost about the things they review, and it mostly stems from bias (comparing everything to DMC), and lack of research. If I ever comment on Cvit's upcoming GoW video, it will be for amusement, not for frustration.

Birdman: >played the Jack game
Oh? Interesting. How's the game? Do you recommend it?

>JP version is different
How?

>gameplay isn't like DMC
>all those claims about it being a clone are wrong
Why am I not surprised.

Solitude: >chains are GoW-ish
Guess that's about it in terms of similarities. Not really expecting it to have GoW's most appealing aspects (instant death antics by way of ringouts, grabs, petrification, etc/collisions/environmental focus/the grab system in general).

>How's the game? Do you recommend it?
It's OK. I loved the atmosphere.

Gameplay is simple. You have a whip with one string. You can grab and throw enemies into each other, spin them around or smash them into the ground. You get two costumes that change your moveset and you can switch in battle but not cancel into them or anything. Pumpkin Jack can breath fire and do an AoE explosion. Santa Jack can throw presents that pop open and do something. There's one that freezes, one that surprises, forgot the other.

Has that triple Bayonetta dodge that has a lag after the third one. There's a combo rating but it's only based on hit count.

Bosses are first half fighting normally, second half kind of DDR songs.

>How?
Has a harder mode. Can't run in combat. Some areas have different camera angles.

There's nothing worse than watching someone waste their life playing mediocre games.

Personally, I think Batman has more potential than Kratos. His traversal abilities and his dynamic view of the world are just more epic. A good Batman game and open world game in general would take advantage of its 3Dimensionality and would allow you a larger failure reset (the origin of placement - the center - death - the game over). The 3Difiying of the world by allowing you to enter ANY building instead of 2Difying the world by stretching out the map with more non-enterable (i.e. depthless) content. Then finally it's getting rid of any tickbox assignments that are not player-generated. Decisions should sprawl through the origins of player choice instead of it being a chain of game developer choice (i.e. storyline).

All of which would require the playerbase to smarten up and the game developer to shorten their game time tremendously in favor of replayability.

>Batman better than...
The freeflow combat of Arkham is easily the weakest part of the series. I've played a lot of Arkham City - sure, it does have options, but their use is limited to one thing and a lot of them are redundant just for the sake of scoring. The worst thing about it, is how hitboxes are limited to just one enemy - idk how they work exactly, but the fact that Batman can only hit one thug at a time severally limits combat that otherwise has some good ideas.

What I think is greatest strenght of Arkham franchise - that gets overlooked often - is the stealth system. I especially like how enemies go from confident to nervous and finally scared shitless progresively how much of them you eliminate. I've never seen anything like this in any stealth game. The more their heart beat raises, their behviour changes. They overact to simple sound, they even shot randomly, because their nevres get the best of them.

there are also vast amount of options that enemies will react to the more you use them - if you use gargoyle too much, enemies will destroy them, if you like to use vents, enemies will check them etc.

I honestly don't hear this aspect of the arkham games praised too much, but I think that's their best aspect.

The main story pushes combat way too much (only interesting boss is Mr. Freeze and it's because he's this game's End), stealth really shines in Riddlers revenge mode and getting all the medals is quite a challenge, especially given how tough some condition can be (Robin's GCPD stage - can't remember the name).

I think the game has a nice mixture. I do feel the combat gets a needlessly bad rep for being the broken mess it is, once you just toy around with all the gadgets and characters it's a lot of fun imo. Not to be taken too seriously, just a fun game to play.

The stealth is really fun and a good variation. I dislike how Knight toned it down by having those multiman takedowns, and how missionmode was way too speedrun orrientated with weird requirements. During the main campaign though, it was excellent, especially how they (as you noted Paul) got more scared as time went on and they found their buddies hanging from gargoyles. Seeing them randomly jump at shadows was a great little touch.

I know it's super dumb to say, but as a fan of the comics, especially the first game and Origins really 'make you feel like Batman'. There's a reason that became such a meme because honestly it is true, especially in those stealth segments.

He didn’t use GT ONCE for the entire duration of the footage, nor Wind Run. Poor performance on bosses too. How can one get stuck on the worm boss on Mentor for 4 hours? Just stand in the side cave and spam the Scythe UT.

I don’t understand how someone can spend this much time writing and editing a video without doing any research or getting better at the game you’re doing the video on. I can understand this for someone like TGBS who just wanted to make a quick and fun review, but if you want to make a mega 4 hour commentary you gotta make a bigger effort.
(You can just watch CH11 to get the idea).

Oh, it's the same dude that said in his dmc bosses ranking vid that Griffon is "simple and requires no skill" while getting absolutely trashed by fatherface lol.

I've watched it a bit and seeing how badly he plays is entertaining - so that's how it feels to play NG2 for the first time, but why did the pick a mentor? He also mentioned NG3 in his vid. Can't wait for him to spent whole vid talking how bad og is and only mention RE briefly!

I'm really becoming convinced that you either play a game or spent hours on making vids talking about video games lol.

Very confused about this video. Haven't heard about this person before, but making a 4 hour video that's basically just "going through the chapters, but badly" while spouting a lot of weird or uninformed takes is...impressive. I'm not going to watch the rest of the video since I know i'll make a giant ass reply. But yeah, surface level stuff at best here.

>why Mentor
Because he said that Warrior was too easy, based on the first fight of the game alone. Yeah.

>Can't wait for him to spent whole vid talking how bad og is and only mention RE briefly
CVit style.

>going through the chapters, but badly
Gotta pump those videos out somehow.

A couple of other things that irked me are that he called the delimb strat that he used in the church fight as “cheesing”. I’d like to know how using the game’s intended mechanics (delimbing) + the arena as a cover is cheesing.
His lack of experimentation can be also seen in the fact that he didn't even use the Talon's FS into Izuna, which is the thing you use the most as a first time player, but nope. He just mashed X like a maniac and called the enemy design "bad".

I don't think I quite understand this notion, since its boundaries are pretty vauge. People use it call exploitation of devs' oversights or to say that certain start doesn't fit their imagined way to play a game. It's more often than not people complaining that they don't like given strat. It really has become overused and meaningless term if engaging with the game mechnics is "cheesing".

>mechanical blindness
It's truly an epidemic and WHO is still silent about it.
