Definitely a fun and unique experience, played it quite a bit and it's just a packed game in general as you note. The secret final boss is super wack and fun too. Just could NOT come to grips with the controls though sadly, I really wanted to do specific moves on demand and half the time it just no sells haha
Game is also strangely RE-like as you noted. But really deep game, tons of weapons too, cool OST and is nice and playfull with the sexy protagonist without being too coomer if you get me.

it's definitely one of the most unique games I've ever played, I guess that's a good thing lol

Yeah I think the main issue with the controls is that say you want to do a flying kick, Nina will do a forward roll kick, happens alot, so annoying and inconsistent. That being said, whacking and throwing dudes still feels great.
Does the RE stuff really well though, which is wild if you think about it.

I've been meaning to get around to playing this, as a big Tekken and Soul Calibur fan. If you've not played Urban Reign, I'd thoroughly recommend it - another action game from Namco that skirts the line between an arena fighter and arcade beat 'em up with some borrowed mechanics from third-person action games. One of my all-time favourites.
I think the comments about the controls have been something that has put me off starting a playthrough in the past. The dual-stick system sounds like a good idea, but I can imagine how it can feel imprecise or unresponsive. I really miss this era of developers being afforded the opportunity (and budget) to try out experimental things. It makes me sad that all Namco are really known for now is Tekken and publishing FromSoft games.

Yeah one comment I make quite a bit lately in conversations is "bring back triangle as Jump". DMC1 had a horrible controlescheme, and it sucked, but at least it was experimental. Everything feels very homogonized and safe in terms of controls these days outside of a few set titles.

I really liked this game and I'm sure I didn't uncover anything close to the amount of stuff you can do.
I remember fighting that boss in the meat freezer and you could hit those huge pieces of hanging meat into the boss which caused hit-stun.

Yeah later-on you also refight him in a spike cage that you can combo him into. Game got pretty creative for sure.
