Surprised this game didn't have a topic yet, considering it is my favorite action-title of all time. Just bought the PC version for cheap and even with everything set to max I'm getting around 120 fps. Game plays like a dream, bought a new Xbox One controller just for it. Fantastic. Shame to read there are barely any mods for it outside of "skip intro cutscene". No other mods either, not even a mod that skips in-game cutscenes automatically. Such a shame.

Is aiming far superior to console?

I tried it for a spell, it completely breaks the game in half if you use Mouse and Keyboard. The game's enemies just aren't made with that kind of precision aiming in mind. The Bogey was a laughing riot. While his movements are doable to keep up with with a controller, with a mouse he was dead before he could really do something.
That's the reason why I opted to use a controller instead. Just the way the game is supposed to be played imo.

It was on God Hard, I only really play on that setting. To me the game should be played with a controller honestly.

So it's so accurate and fast that it's unfair on the enemies.
Wait, then wouldn't this be the case for ANY shooter on PC? How do any of these games get around it? How do you design enemies around mouse aiming?

Not really, games on PC that are made for PC in the shooter genre tend to have more or faster enemies, less cover, enemies have more HP for instance too and body-part damage is more important (headshots are easier to make, so game's are more quickly designed around this with bodyshots dealing a lot less damage). Painkiller absolutely swarms you with foes for instance, as does Quake. Doom is more methodical. Games in the genre tend to also have a bigger focus on level design and vertical level design, while console shooters tend to be more horizontal (so a single plane).
Vanquish is made around speed, but when the 'gimmick' of the final boss is that he's too fast to hit without slow-mo...and he's practically standing still compared to your mouse-aim, there's a problem.

I wonder if the devs knew this before they ported to PC?
Could you beat the whole of GH without using slowmo in the PC version?

Yeah you could, also possible on the console - it's been done. It will just be a lot easier on PC. In terms of the PC port, I doubt it. This kind of porting is generally only done for extra cash and focus on the game running smooth. Doubt they look at the gameplay mechanics (which is why the extra framerate hurt the game originally).

Fair few links (to old topics) come to mind for this title. Lots of things I would have wanted for the game (much less sequels seemingly never to be). Fair bit of weapons testing and a mess of melee focus. Had my own contributions to make for cheap tactics (as I lack the skill to go for true speed). Never got around to specialty runs that I can recall (not truly pure ones, anyway). This not counting GH (a forced NUR with other conditions).

I still need to finish my LC-only run, but NGII keeps me addicted as does DOOM (both 1993, II and 2016). If you want, you can backup your notes here. I disabled the post limit (though it still is there at around 200.000 characters iirc), in case Gamefaqs goes up in flames.

I haven't forgotten (or the NG, MGR:R, etc. runs).

I don't know that I even have them anymore. Not beyond what is already on GFAQs, that is. I'd have to check around. Much was lost when gow3forums went down (admin just didn't have the sense to tell people he was going to give up and was the type to not pass the reigns).
>200K
Not too shabby. Would only need three posts for my light evaluation of the FuturePress GoWII guide like that.

Shame to hear about the GoW3forums. We had a similar instance with Iberians which is still a sour spot for many fans of Ninja Gaiden, especially since it hosted so much video content and discussions. Guy just refused to let others host it. Thankfully Dark Hazuki was kind enough to transfer the NGrealm to JTB instead of closing it down too.
I am still looking into transfering this forum to a Wordpress forum one day, for extra security that nothing is lost.

"Many such cases." - Favorite President of many
NOTE: An issue I had a lot of bad fortunate with before that had been the rise of PC culture on forums like ProBoards (took at 'the vet board' and 'alt.TUGOWU' by surprise when they presented the rule where they can remove things for no reason at all per their own words). No heads up given at all.
>transfer case
Haven't had the good fortune of one of those yet. Even TUGOWU is not the original. Rather, it is 2.0. 1.0 was deleted without warning by its admin. One of the regulars remade it for 2.0, which I quickly found (after being surprised by the sudden disappearance of the first one). I took over for the leader of 2.0 eventually, but kept finding others to stand in my place (preferring to advise instead of lead directly). GS itself tried to betray and eliminate us, but I was able to band together with many other 'unions' to save it (for many years, but they'll eventually come for us again *without warning*).
>still looking into back up options
For the best. I've seen the story play out too many times. YT's foolishness (even when users are voluntarily taking out content here and there) has cost my primary community a great deal, I'd say.

Youtube and its ilk are going to be a big danger in the future should they vanish, or decide to police even more.
