Apparently Nintendo bought the IP from them: https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/platinum-says-astral-chain-is-nintendos-ip-after-fans-notice-copyright-change/

Interesting - so, Nintendo want to keep it exclusive. I suppose then that this basically means that... nothing has really changed, from a consumer's perspective? It was a Nintendo game before and still will be going forward.
You have to think this means they have interest in financing a sequel, right?

The game was a huge financial success from what I'm reading, performing way above expectations, so I'd say a sequel is definitely in the works. Might be a chance that they want to do it without Platinum however for whatever reason.

I do think this is a good thing. It is Nintendo dollars and freedom that made not only Astral Chain possible but Bayonetta 2. I do hope going forward Platinum keeps a strong relationship with Nintendo. If there is a squeal I wonder if Platinum games could do it. I honestly don't know any Nintendo in house studio that could even come close to making an action game like Platinum

First off, welcome! Hope you enjoy your time here :)
I think ND3(I think that's the name, the guys behind Ring Fit and Mario 3d World) are absolutely talented developers, but their niche is elsewhere. I do still feel an Nintendo action game would be interesting. They've never really done that genre I feel, while they dabbled with it being a small part of Metroid and Zelda, it was never the focus. Just like shooters. Might be interesting if they'd give Astral Chain 2 a go.

Yeah that is true. Nintendo in-house if given the budget and time would make a very satisfying action games. In terms of first part Switch games I honestly don't think there has been a "bad" I have played.

Definetely! There are moments where they make decisions that make me go "but why" like limiting Splatoon 2's co-op mode to certain times of day, but generally speaking they just make very solid games.
