Very fun ass weapon so far. Seems like the speed makes it easier to dodge enemy’s attacks while destroying certain ones. >X and >Y are so fucking good. Does the former give you iframes btw?

You mean hardest or just very hard i.e. VH/Mentor?

NG:B has the best difficulty modes regardless. Perfect game and really plays best with all the changes per setting.

Finally got to Chapter 13. I admit I don't feel completely satisfied, as I skipped some fights, such as the final battles in CH 11, where I fled to Genshin (would have been great to face all those Ninjas, but sadly the dogs are just jerks, and hard to manage without level 2 Lunar), and the battle before Zedonius (which, you guessed it, also had dogs in it) in CH 12. It's probably why I got a Greater Ninja rank at the end of the Chapters.

The previous 3 levels were great overall, though.

Just thought of something, why don’t they make it so that if you have a devil waymushroom or healing herb, you hav the option to turn it into a orb to charge for a UT without killing a enemy. Although it could be highly exploitable(especially on NG+). Although I don’t think that’s the case for me personally.

Claws are a lot of fun so far. >Y is a very good delimb as well as the 360 Y. Love how fast it is as well, and by that I mean how airborne it makes you which is REALLY useful against IS ninjas. On another note, I’m not having that much fun with IS ninjas, when I am desitrying them, I have a decent time but my god it can become a cluster fuck at times. Favorite enemy is still tactical ninjas.

You always skip it, even on regular runs?  I actually like those battles with IS Ninjas, I only fled due to dogs and having no good tools to kill them (their grab being especially frustrating to deal with).

IIRC after that little fight in the rocky area where there's also a statue, you jump down and are in the sword-graveyard. Usually I just run past it if I'm not in the mood. Sometimes I do it, but it's not in a fight I really enjoy.

The one in the box art of the game? It's one of my favorite encounters lol (although i haven't played in mentor yet)

I always respected it for being a circular, empty arena in a game where you can abuse wall attacks. I think the enemies could be better though (where are the archers? i need some reasons to go deeper into the graveyard)

So for the claws, X X>Y makes yo go o walks right? Can you redirect it or no? By that I mean can you press the stick not directly forward to latch on to a wall during the combo string?

My god, the encounter before gigadeath is killing me. I have to learn how to handle offscreen enemy’s better I think. Is there good audio cues in this game unlike raggy?

Not really, stay on the move and don't get surrounded. It helps to delimb the golden-gelfs so they are more passive and nuke down the purple ones first.

My sister is playing it currently, can’t say much on it really. I watched ziad combat analysis on it and it made me semi interested. The thing that caught my eye was if you are on cooldown you gain more drive. That was sick as hell to me. Makes me wonder if raggy has a similar thing.

Yeah, the dogs are too hard to handle without upgrades, so I skipped that part (and the sword graveyard at the end of CH 11). Also, the Dragons are too spongey, IIRC.

are you guys talking about the graveyard fight or the fight *before* the graveyard? The former i think it's pretty cool and don't have any dog iirc, but the latter is.... yeah, very bad

Chapter 3s encounter before gigadeath is the most ptsd enduring encounter I’ve had the pleasure of being in. It’s not a bad encounter ig, but my god it’s so fucking hard.

FINALLY beaten chapter 3. Gigadeath was trash ofc as usual BUT with the power of 360 UT spam he only took a hour instead of like, 16 hours.

Are you playing on Master Ninja or Mentor? Either way, after Gigadeath, the game should get easier overall, at least for a while. The fight against archers and IS ninjas at the begininning of Ch 4 is very nasty, though, unless you abuse Wind Blades. Still, there should be a chest with Red essences nearby, IIRC.

I’m on mentor, and that encounter is hard, yes. It’s pretty good though, mainly the arena which has cover as well as tactical ninjas and rpg dudes having good chemistry(tactical ninjas can lock you down, which can allow the rpg dudes to get a rocket off BUT if you use cover it’s far easier). Mentor is very fun mostly, claws are pretty fun(especially love their flying swallow attack). Something I really love in this game is enemy hit reactions. Some of the best I’ve seen. I realized how important enemy hit reactions are in action games after playing raggy. Currently play MGR:R and the enemy hit reactions there are also cool. Although I feel like walls should be utilized more in that game. No wall running(demo IIRC had some or it was a tech demo) and no enemy wall splat which is….. weird. For a game based around lining up enemy’s that should be in the game IMO.

I think I found a cool combo that being, gullitone throw(with claws) into flying swallow to cancel it into a izuna drop.

You mean that you execute a FS right after a GT, and then turn the FS into an Izuna Drop? Sounds redundant, imo, FS+ID should be enough. Though maybe that could have some use against Fiend Ninjas if you slam them against a wall, since the aforementioned combo doesn't kill them if only used once. Still, GT wall slam+ Dragon Sword finisher would be the way to go even in that case.

Important to note for combos is that two delimbs are an OHKO, in a sense. So you can do this in specific ways, generally with IS. Do XXY with the dragon sword, cancel into a IS, then throw them. They'll die immediately as the IS will remove their second limb just after the impact on the wall does, or vice versa.

FS+ID isn't a guaranteed delimb iirc, so it's not as good in these setups, and the recovery is ass.

I tried combining IS with the kusa grabs, but the timing is hard and if the grab is too long the IS explodes before the animation finishes.

My god this game is so fucking cool, can’t wait to get scythe soon. I swear each weapon really feels like a game in of itself. And luckily each weapon is unique to the point I can have very good light memory so I am free to experiment with others. Weapon I’m most hyped to get again is scythe.

So question, in chapter 4 there is a encounter with rpg dudes with barrels, is it best to use said barrels against them or are the developers just being satanic adding like, 50 rpg dudes lol(not complaining since the barrel indicates there is a reason for that one way or the other).

You mean the barrels just before leaving the subway? Those with the archers? I tend to not use those, too hard to aim manually while being nuked from all sides. Note that you can UT or even ET those barrels to explode them.

How good is the claws X wall attack when sideways? Not finding too much use of it, BUT it does seem to stagger enemy’s which is important in this game very much so. I wonder how stagger works in general since it seems very interesting.

Really wish we could grab more big foes somehow tbh. They really don’t hold a candle to how much interactions you can have with regular enemy’s like ninjas IMO.

In general I was a bit bumbed that enemies never used wall-run again after NG1, it was really cool to see ninjas flip off of walls just like you in a way to confuse and misdirect you. Imagine how scary IS-ninjas would be that way.

There is a scripted section in ninja gaiden 2 that ninjas actually run on walls but was more gameplay focuses IIRC. It was in chapter 1 however.

Finally beaten the troll mini boss and got to a new save point. Chapter 4 really could use less imps for sure. Also, I feel like tactical ninjas are peoples favorite enemy if they are dogshit at the game(which I am).
