I find it funny that Norman Reedus gave the award, easily the star of the worst action game 2019 lol.

I’m either old or I hate most games, because this shit is dreadful.

That multiplayer melee game could be cool, the footage was super choppy though made the animations look trash. Also hate multiplayer games, but a good one could pull me back in.
The industry is leaning towards multiplayer GaaS, it's a sad world we live in.

Indeed, this is why I mostly have stopped paying attention to new games. Most of these trailers are full of similar camera work, terrible music, non-gameplay and cringe humor.

Holy shit that was bad. It was like an old E3 trash fire I couldn't stop looking. Final announcement was a fast and furious game that looked like a mid gen PS3 budget title. Absolutely sad night.

I was waiting for at least one pleasant surprise but it never happened. Not watching this garbage again.

Watched a compilation of the awards just now. Nothing worthwhile announced. Was slightly enthousiastic about a Ghost trailer, only to see just another set of cutscenes spliced together that we'll never see in the game itself. Like, what does it even show us? It's just the same shit every year, and that's fine, but I'll stick to the recaps.

Bravely Default II's name made me laugh though.

Overall, yeah, this show was fucking dumb. Ads everywhere, lame-ass trailers, skipped awards, dragged on forever. I really don't think there needs to be one organization trying to be "The Oscars" for video games, because all this was was a big glorified series of Superbowl advertisements. The thing I got the most out of watching it was 4000 internet points for a trailer I uploaded. Not worth it.

I hoped either DMC or Astral Chain would win best action game, so that was nice.

The only other reason I gave a crap about TGA was because the Smash community had convinced themselves that we'd get an announcement for the final character in the Fighter Pass...and we got absolutely nothing. Gotta love it.

Got together with a few friends and we all watched together since that's the only way to enjoy this Zoomer shitshow. We had a game where we would take shots everytime our nominations didn't win, my patrician taste coupled with paid judges ended up with me passing out and losing a good chunk of the vent(aka literally nothing), it was fun.

Expected, ties in with I was talking about in other topic, AC requires people to put in some effort to actually enjoy it while DMC is just fun at entry level for people who never touched the series.

I disagree, the game isn't even that bad as people make it out to be, it just had too much hype on the Kojima brand and people bought in without even caring what it was about.

In the very least it's still better than Gatcha shit which has killed videogames where it actually mattered(Japan) and they're still games while Gatcha shit is mostly just gambling and softporn.

Despite all the cringe and shilling, I feel like it was actually decent for once in the award department, Sekiro taking in the title(even though I think smash deserved it) of goty brings the radar back to games with gameplay over cinematics, 2019 has been a pretty good year for action games and surprsingly the goty award was a good way to close it, hopefully devs in 2020 will focus less on stuff like NuGoW(even though we know Lesbos R us 2 will nab the awards next year) and more on 'gameplay matters' types of game even if for a short while.

NMH3 was probably the only title that interested me there, that and DMC: Shark Edition looked fun in a stupid way.

They were miles ahead of last year which featured NuGoW nabbing away the prize from Red Ded Redemption 2 and SonicFox as best player.

Probably the fact that the man has managed to somehow kept a weird level of secrecy in development to most of the parties involved, the fact that Kojima has actually managed to keep everyone hyped on a game they knew 0 things about for years is actually amazing. It speaks nothing of his quality as a game developer but it shows he knows how to run things and earn his buck.

Agreed. In this case, I can see why people thought there would be a surprise announcement. All of the fighters are supposed to be released by February, and there is usually at least a couple of months between the announce trailer and the character release. I guess there will be a pretty quick turnaround for the DLC #5 release.

I actually agree, Sekiro has its problems but it’s a complete, challenging game that I think still deserves the title in some ways.

New Smash Bros DLC fighter being announced - that's all I'm interested in. Hopefully it's somebody interesting to play as...I still havent tried Steve, thinking about it. His moveset looked really unique, looks like Sakurai and team did a great job with him.

I'm at the point where with Smash I'm more interested in what the reveal might mean for the series it represenents than the actual combatant haha. That said, and this is personal probably, I really do wish Smash were to stay exclusive to Nintendo characters. It was always this sort of "nintendo museum" to me as a kid and now it's a tad lost. Also because trophies are now gone.

All my friends are too hype for modern games and love this stuff, though they don't watch it live since even they know how dull it is haha. Going to skip it as it's super late here (00:30 at night) and I have a job interview tomorrow.

I have to say, I like the guest characters. I think it gives the devs a cool opportunity to create characters who have their own unique mechanics compared to the main roster. Though, to be fair, there are probably plenty of first party characters that could have unique play styles.

TGA starts at 11:30 here. I don't go to bed 'til after 1am most nights anyway so I'll probably have it on as background noise. Good luck with your interview!

I definitely expect another Souls-like, have a feeling no publisher is going to let them get away with doing anything truly unique at this point. No interesting reveals, ME vaporware is irrelevant since the OG team is kill, Sephi is cool but would it kill to put some effort in making a new theme for him Square? It was worthless as it could be to no one surprise.

Reveals all sucked, agreed there. Mostly generic shooters with gritty, realistic graphics. Was really holding out for either a Ryu Hayabusa reveal in Smash, or that potentially leaked Ninja Gaiden trilogy. Guess we'll have to wait for the latter.

There were already a lot of stuff leaked on TLoU development but for VGA I'd say all the people involved are clearly accomplices so it's much harder to leak it, it's also probably much easier to pinpoint whoever is whistleblowing and I'd say that if you get kicked out of their "little mafia" it'll be insanely hard to get back or work on related places. VGA is no different than Hollywood at this point where everyone knows each other dirty deeds but will take it to their grave.

I think it's funny how the current roster of Smash really is just a fan-submission from Gamefaqs from 2002 it feels like haha.
