Weapons or limbs?

What do you like using more in action games? Melee weapons or fists and kicks? I can't really pick.

For me it depends on the options the game gives.

If you can choose multiple weapons, my go-to is range. If that isn't available or doesn't cut it, my next choice is speed. That's generally how I approach it but I also take things case by case.

In Curse of Darkness, I originally went with spears, but they're quite slow. The ones I have now have a decent first hit where Hector does a horizontal, wide range swing, but that's the only good strike in the string. The rest are slow with horrible, linear strikes that just aren't useful so all I'd do was dodge cancel after the first swing. Not bad but it positions you away from enemies and the damage output isn't great. Good for groups though.

If the game only offers one type like God Hand, then I don't care. I don't dislike combat without weapons, it just depends on the options I'm given.
