I hope he's trolling, good thing he has nothing to do with DMC anymore, more power to Itsuno.

Uhm, so you guys have heard about those DMCV leaks, I think... so what do you think? Those leaks seem to confirm that the game will actually have more emphasis on story and character developement, so maybe the no DMC will actually have a cinematic approach.

I'm not enthusiast about that.

He's known for trolling so I'm going with that. No way the guy thinks like this.

I'm noticing more topics on this news popping up on Gamefaqs. Expect the usual stupid.

We've made a topic for the leak, and no DMCV will not be a pissing walky talky lalapalooza, swear on me mum. It will have more story than the prior entries but it will be relegated to cutscenes and such that won't interfere with gameplay. DMC3 had plenty of story too, with great acting, writing and choreography, the best the series has seen so far. Ninja Theory tried the filmic approach and we know how that turned out.

Kamiya is just trolling, the man directed Bayo 1, which lets you skip ALL cutscenes and camera flybyes, which says a lot about the guy.

In Bayonetta there are unskippable qte's plus a tedious motorcycle section and a shmup section. I hope this is not how he want the new action games to be.

Those are Kamiya touches, those are things you have to accept with Platinum Games as they aren't going to stop that anytime soon. Of course you can't skip QTEs, you CAN skip ALL cutscenes, unlike cinematic dog food games, which are nothing but unskippable cutscenes that your forced to interact with. Tedious is opinion, though the shmup section goes on for a bit too long and then jeanne boss at the end with no option to fight her in a chapter select sucks. What's that saying about all the other mini game sections in PG games? There's no end of them, like wonderful 101 is stocked to the brim with them, a punch out mini games, twice!

Kamiya hasn't touched DMC since 1, DMC is Itsuno's series now, what Kamiya wants is irrelevant as it's up to Itsuno and crew. Itsuno is firmly about core gameplay with no deviations from that, that's what DMC became about. Have some faith in the man, you where concerned about story interfering with gameplay weren't you? Not likely with this man in charge.

Apparently he was legit just making mental notes on twitter and is outraged over the negative responses. He even swore to never post in English again. I expect this to have some reporcutions somehow.

You can skip everything in Platinum Games's games

Okay hooooo there. That is extremely incorrect, if anything: it's the reverse. Forced slow-walking segments (W101, Vanquish, MGR:R, Bayo2), unskippable QTE's and dialogue (MGR:R, Bayo, Vanquish, Korra) and downright unskippable cutscenes (MGR:R in some cases). Their games are littered with them, it is a pretty big insult to be honest.

The game that handles it best in the genre I feel is Nioh of all games. It's "Skip all watched cutscenes" button is amazing, and every game should have it.

Who are you quoting Roy? I said Bayo 1 specifically, which is still true you can skip everything but QTE sequences. You framed your response as if it was retort to a quote, but no one wrote it, your hyperbole there concerns me.

That's beside the point, DMC won't have all these issues, you can skip everything in DMC3-4, even the evil door hands shattering. Point is DMC is its own entity and won't suffer the issues that plague platinum, Itsuno and crew are better than that, the leaks don't mention forced cutscenes of any kind.

Easy there sport, it was a lazy quote. I'm sick, at work and I just made a lazy quote. No need to act like the world is on fire. Doesn't make what I said any less true though. Platinum is very well known for forcing segments upon other players. So I wouldn't be surprised if that is - eventually - their desire. Wonderful 101 was crammed with cutscenes (over 5 hours of them, one of them being nearly 30 minutes in length on its own) and that's not counting the dialogue in game, QTE's and more.

That's beside the point, DMC won't have all these issues, you can skip everything in DMC3-4, even the evil door hands shattering. Incorrect, see, full quote this time. DMC1 had an unskippable swimming section/mini-game, a few unskippable cutscenes that occured before and after bosses (like Mundus). It had a ton of 'this door is now locked' or 'this door is now open' cutscenes which at times couldn't be skipped (loading probably). DMC3 had a similar problem.
Both also suffered the curse of not being able to skip cutscenes the first time you play the game, a cardinal sin.

DMC4 had a ton of hidden Nero QTE's, a final 'epic' QTE that impacted your rating, a dice minigame (which - thankfully - Nero could manipulate) and I believe there was at least one or two unskippable cutscenes from what I recall.

Also Capcom is having financial issues, so you can bet your ass they will be playing it safe considering just how bad of a seller DMC has been. People always think it's this juggernaught, but in its lifespan - DMC1, DMC2, DMC3, DMC3SE(PS2), DMC3SE(PC), DMC4 (PS3), DMC4(X36), DMC4(PC) DMCHD (PS3), DMCHD(X360), DmC(PS3), DmC(X360), DmC(PC)DMC4SE(PS4), DMC4SE(X1), DMC4SE(PC) and finally DmC:SE(PS4) and DmC:SE(X1) the series had sold roughly 16 million copies(taken from their own official report here: http://www.capcom.co.jp/ir/english/finance/salesdata.html). Might be 16,5 by now since that data is about 14 months old.

That's almost just as much as God of War 1, 2 & 3 sold (not counting HD remakes or re-releases) which sold a total of 15 million. Which is why I am a bit afraid that, while the core might be good, it will be held back extremely badly by current conventions in hopes of upped sales. Capcom needs a big seller now, otherwise they are in trouble.

If Kamiya is really thinking like this, all hope is lost for Platinum.

Not completely, he only most oversees projects these days and writes for them. Inaba does most of the actual work (Director, producer) these days. He's the brains behind games like Vanquish, MGR:R, Bayonetta 2 and more. Kamiya has recently been more the face, with Scalebound supposed to be his big thing (which seemed very cinematic and 'modern').

About Scalebound, Kamiya said that he actually wanted to create a big RPG. Then Microsoft forced him to change the direction into that coop thing that we saw in footage. Some people from the press said that they could try a small demo of the original project ind it seemed great, I'm sad that we won't never see it. Unless he creates that with a different publisher.

There is talk going around that the new game by Platinum Games, Granblue Fantasy Project Re: Link, might be using the gameplay from Scalebound and some other elements of its engine that they had left lying around. It's always a shame to see these things happen though.
