Shorter chapters is probably because of the multiplayer focus, something Nintendo loves to push with its Switch since you technically have two controllers out of the box. None of this sounds good to me. I'm worried Nintendo are going to inflict their stupid gimmicks on it.

>bayonetta is seen more vulnerable than in previous games
Sound like someone we know?

>sexual content is still there but not as prominent
Maybe because of the daughter they plan to add. Wouldn't be a good influence.

Not invested as I haven’t got a Wii U or Switch. More interested in the other game yet to be revealed.

I'm with Gabriel on this, as I don't have any interest in a Switch at the moment, but I don't think all of this sounds too bad. Really depends on what they choose to focus on with the lower budget.

Off topic but theoretically, could Bayonetta 4 be multi-platform if Platinum has enough money on it's own to fund it? I'm sure Platinum would stick with Nintendo out of loyalty, but it's something that's been bouncing around in my head for a little while.

That’s probably a hard no, Nintendo and Sega own the rights to Bayo 2 and 3, Sega owns the rights to Bayo 1(hence the resent PC port).

https://gonintendo.com/stories/301983-platinum-s-hideki-kamiya-explains-how-bayonetta-2-and-3-came-to-b

Hideki Kamiya: “I've got something I want to tell you all. It's about Bayonetta 3. We are a developer that creates games by signing contracts with publishers and receiving funds from them in order to cover development costs. For Bayonetta 1, we signed a contract with Sega and received funds from them, then we proposed a design for the game and entered production. All of the rights belong to Sega.

At the time, our company had only just been established, and we weren't properly equipped for multiplatform development, so after discussing with Sega, we decided to develop the game exclusively for Xbox 360. However, after that, one of Sega's trading partners ended up making a port for PS3, at Sega's behest. More recently, they also decided that a Steam version should be developed, which was released last year. Sega owns the rights to all of these versions.

When we started making Bayonetta 2, we initially received funds from Sega to develop the game for multiple platforms, but the project was halted due to circumstances at Sega. Nintendo then stepped in to continue funding the game, allowing us to finish it. As such, the rights belong to Sega and Nintendo.

The rights owners decided the game should be made for Wii U. Nintendo was also kind enough to fund a port of Bayo 1 for Wii U, and they even allowed us to use the Japanese voice track we created for the Wii U version in the PC version of Bayo 1 as well. I am extremely thankful to Nintendo for funding the game, and to Sega for allowing them to use the Bayonetta IP.

As for Bayonetta 3, it was decided from the start that the game was going to be developed using Nintendo's funding. Without their help, we would not have been able to kick off this project. All of the rights still belong to Sega and Nintendo. The rights owners decided that the game should be made for Switch.

Game development is a business. Each company has its own circumstances and strategies. Sometimes this means games get made, sometimes it means they get cancelled. But I believe that every single person involved is dedicated to delivering the best possible experience. I know that, to me at least, that's one of the biggest goals when I set to work.

I cannot express how happy I am that we get to make Bayonetta 3, and we intend to do everything within our power to make it as good as it can be. That's all we can do, and we consider it our greatest mission. It took a while for production of Bayonetta 3 to be okayed, but now that it has kicked off, I hope it will turn into a wonderful encounter for all of you.”

Yeah the general leaks aren't showing a lot of good things right now, but maybe with some context it will be fine. The sliced budget and Nintendo's emphasis on couch co-op (which I don't mind, but don't want impacting a single player experience) might the the final nails.

> Switch
I have the console, and until recently it had been biting the dust. It is the ideal machine for short burst games, so I decided to turn it into my arcade machine installing titles like Sengoku, Shocktroopers and Ikaruga. Lot more fun now. As a 'sit down and play hardcore games' machine it is lacking. Most ports run at half the framerate (Doom) and the mainline titles aren't there yet.

> Bayonetta 4 Kajiwotore
You said it yourself, loyalty. Platinum Games was pretty close to losing Bayonetta 2 and Nintendo swept in to save it, which gave them immense gratitude. Like it or not, they are the grand-daddy of the hobby, even Itagaki - known to blast them in interviews - respected them for saving Devil's Third. In the end, it is about business relationships. Sega is making a easy payday with Bayonetta now since Nintendo mostly funds it and they get a share of the profit and have a new IP. And let us be honest, Bayonetta will never sell. It has a really loyal fanbase, but it won't top 2 million copies sold even if it launches on all platforms; and most of those will be users buying it on multiple systems.
But if something bad were to happen, and Bayonetta 3 is this huge success and makes a ton of money, and Nintendo dumps the IP at the same time, who knows. But I'd put my money on it and say it is starting to become a Nintendo IP. Wouldn't be surprised if they've already put an offer on the table multiple times to just buy the IP.

Yeah that's about what I thought. I totally understand Platinum's decision and viewpoint on the matter. I highly doubt Sega will ever sell the IP unless Nintendo gives them a shit-load of cash. Might as well just sit back and soak up the profits.

Nintendo does seem fond of the character though, her being the most overpowered guest character in Smash Brothers history is telling, and she is even...a Disney Princess haha (just google it, its fun).

I'm sure they would love to own Bayo, but I have no clue how much they would have to pay to keep it, or if it would even be worth it.

I looked up the Disney princess thing but I don't really get it. Were you talking about the twitter post of her riding that horse thing, or just the fact that she can dress like Peach?

Ah okay haha. I had no clue Smash tourneys aired on Disney. Kind of surprising actually. Never really thought I would see Disney take an interest in esports.

To make it even worse they showed a cutscene of Bayonetta riding an enemy while making moaning noises in a cutscene with the Disney XD logo plastered all over it. Delicious haha!

In terms of buying an IP, it isn't cheap. You're look at at least 50-100 million depending on the value; and that might only net you the main character - not the universe. Buying an full-IP like Mario's would probably cost a few billion if not more considering just how much revenue worth it has (just Mario Kart alone...). This is why most people don't fully buy an IP, just the temporary rights to use them (like Sony with Spiderman).

Oh okay haha I thought the Disney XD logo was just edited in later as a joke or something. I wish Disney showed Bayonetta moaning back when I watched it as a kid! I probably would have enjoyed the programming a lot more lol

Yep, that makes sense. The returns for purchasing Bayonetta wouldn't be worth the price of admission at all, unless Bayo 3 ended up selling like 4 million copies or something.

Depends on the bigger picture. Amiibo sales, anime sales, a rights-free inclusion in Smash, it could eventually add up.

Bayonetta styling all over Smash kids is swell, but I ain't keen on the Nintendo shit being the reality of things (nor the course for B3 should it even actually happen *with B2 doing a lot of shit I didn't like the looks of*). Sony got pretty woke, so that isn't a real option (and Microsoft doesn't fucking exist). No hope outside some third-party funding it for PC (without all the gay restrictions).

Nintendo is pretty big on character loyalty, keeping them true to their design. So I doubt they'd force Platinum to change her physically. They even went as far as to push for more clevage in her Link costume as that was 'typical Bayonetta'. Not to mention Nintendo being the go-to VN console these days, even moreso for Japanese players of risque anime titles after Sony boycotting those.

I am curious about the game though, wonder what direction it will go in. We still have no clue as to even if Kamiya is involved.

Wokeness sabotage of Sony, yes. Should never have allowed the Cali-kids to run them. Foolishness.

If I see non-HnS levels with more of his signature pining to do certain other types of games from his youth, we'll know he had some involvement for sure.

Note that the hardest mission to S+ rank in Astral Chain is a non-HS section where you ride a bike. You can just hear Kamiya laughing in the background.

These leaks are real interesting in retrospect, because there's a real mix of stuff that's close to what happened, stuff we know from cut content, and stuff that makes no sense at all. The villain's plot is similar, there's indeed less sexual content and costumes, setpieces are much bigger (though there's only a single fight taking place in outer space). Stuff about rebuilding paradiso, inferno, and the human world kinda feel related to the cut chapters involving Bayo 1 and Bayo 2.

Meanwhile the stuff about multiplayer and DLC is CRAZY since it never manifested at all and we haven't heard about it in cut content to my knowledge.
