This is Housemarque's latest game. You may know their previous titles, Resogun and Nex Machina.

Fortunately I found this dev gameplay explaining how all the mechanics work because I wasn't looking forward to explaining it. All the video reviews are just the usual whiners who cry about everything then state as fact these 'flaws' rather than facing their own lacking ability.

It got a physical release in EU for some reason and it's pretty cheap (NZ $34.95).

Been playing this a bit just unlocking all the weapons and abilities and figuring out how the scoring system works. There's barely any info on this game at all.

Here's how it works. When you dash into an enemy, it freezes for a short time. If you shoot it during this time you get WAY more points. The multiplier is not per kill. You fill a meter by killing enemies and not getting hit.

Hidden around the levels are purple crystals. You break them with the Matter Jet beam then collect a shiny thing. This gives you points based on your current multiplier. So 8x means 8000 points each.

This means you may want to to clear an area before going for these, but they are sometimes a bit out of the way, meaning you'd waste stage time which also affects your score. I've never actually tried so maybe it's not that bad, but some of the later levels are quite long.

The highest possible score would require no damage or death, time, all humans saved, matter crystals collected with highest multiplier available at the time,  and also grabbing as many pickups as possible. Health and energy meter (for your super move) give points, as do matter bombs.

Matter bombs are dropped randomly from destroyed enemies and appear as floating (or wherever the enemy was destroyed) blue energy..things. You shoot them with the Matter Jet to cause a huge explosion capable of taking out many enemies at once. There's an ability that makes them drop more frequently, like ALL THE TIME. If you equip this you'll see them constantly.

Looking at the leaderboards, it's mostly the same guy with the highest score. There's no videos at all online, or at least none have turned up in my searches.
