Really excited for this game. With the exception of the Super Moves (not interested) and the armor-loss (more nudity is fine, but eh) it looks like it is tailored for me. Love the emphasis on spacing and mindgames over huge combos. Attacks look strong and impactful, each one counts. Really hoping my boy is in it.






Any characters you are hoping will make the cut? I'd love Yung-Seong and if possible Maxi and Taki - all my other favorites are already confirmed (Sophitia, Kilik, Mitsurugi). If Taki makes the cut I wonder if they dare give her the hard nipples she had in all her original designs that stuck out beneath her outfit. You'd think in the current day SJW-mindset those things won't happen, but seeing Ivy in her typical outfit I would love to see what kind of fuel that would throw on the fire.

Yes...YES!

I'm happy with Ivy and Xianghua. They're all I've ever used aside from a little Seong Mi-Na (I HATE writing Korean with English letters lol it's weird). My bro is a Talim and Yun Seong player so he's hoping they're in.

Xianghua is one of the few characters I could never get a grip on, though her personalitits never sat home with me either with her "Just kidding" style haha. Loved playing as Ivy. I still recall one combo on SCII by mind. You'd do a twirl attack which put foes in the air, then a slash to juggle further, cancel into a grapple through their body to slam them onto the ground and then put your heel in their back.

God I loved that game. Might pop the disc in tonight. I actually have the official soundtrack CD at home, two discs.

Talim was fun too. "Wind, guide me".

I saw the leak a while ago, really great to see her back. Love the kanji on her and as always the artist just wrecks it with the official promotional artwork pieces. Very impressive.

It’s not going to happen, but I always thought Raziel from Soul Reaver would be a great fit for SolCal. His design and move set look right in place with the SolCal 2 crew given Soul Reaver 2 was relevant in the PS2 era. He is from a medieval time period and his games and the Legacy of Kain series involves time travel. He even wields his own soul as a blade.

Actually I was quite surprised by the fact that most people were just talking about how cute her hat is haha. I always liked Talim in SCII. Fun to play with. If guys want to oogle her, rather they oogle her than a real 15 year-old. Have to admit the thong is a bit much though haha!

Interestingly, it's only her age that's causing outrage. Well, sure, her outfit too, but only because of her age. If the official word came out and said she was 32, I wonder if everyone would still have an issue?

It is always hard to judge, if she looked 18 it would be fine. It wasn't until people did the math that they found out they'd been drooling over an 15 year old Ayane. I'm against the whole "looks like she's 4, but she's actually an ancient goddess who's over 400 years old" ploy animes tend to abuse to get their loli-fans to watch.

Enfin, it is what it is. It is funny to see Soul Calibur retake the thrown of most horny fighting game though (what is it with fighting games and half naked woman?).

When I first watched this trailer, I noticed near nothing about her clothing. I was just eager to see gameplay. Now that I've read what people are complaining about and examined her outfit a more closely, I have to say it is quite creepy to dress up a 15 year old character like that.

I wonder why the devs chose to do this? Do they know it's weird? Do they know there is a large portion of creeps and are trying to appeal to them?

Most Talim topics won't go far without someone throwing 'pedo' around, and you've even got those who auto assume anyone who plays Talim is a creep. My bro played her since SC2 for no other reason than he liked her weapon and playstyle. That's usually why a person picks a character.

I rarely check character ages because I don't care, and never knew Ayane was 15 at that time. That's the problem, they can make a character look any way they want, and assign ANY age. Anime faces don't help because they lack a lot of detail. Given her body type though, I guess you can't blame them lol.

Fatal Frame 2 got a lot of flak for having two 15 year olds as the main playable characters, but I feel it was only because of the creepy fanbase saying gross shit. In the Wii remake, the ages were changed to 17 and the characters were redesigned to look older.

This is a concept I didn't know about until very recently and it makes me feel kinda sick. I have avoided anime with awful designs (like large eyed little schoolgirl bullshit) my whole life. Can't stand them. These days I can't watch anything. What happened to the good shit from the 80s/90s?

A good friend of mine is, sadly, a big fan of loli's. It always freaked me out a bit (note: a lot). Especially when he notes how badly he wants a daughter in the future, yikes haha. 

But about why they do it, easy: sales. If you have something for every fetish you get an extra target audience in. The busty fans have Ivy to drool over, others Xiangua, some prefer Taki's flipflops. Some stay for the crack of the gods from Sophitia while some woman or homosexual guys hang all over Kilik (and some woman adore Ivy too btw). Adding a young girl for teenage boys to feel attracted to (someone their age) helps sales with a younger audience, while also getting the creeps to buy it.

It is a curse. I prefer the 80/90s anime too, Tekkaman Blade, FotNS, Berserk. The current anime just isnt' for me. Granted, some are really good still like Madoka Magica and Bakemonogatari(?). But their style is just...pff. Makes you feel like the FBI is coming knocking any day now.

Love that her stances are in, it is stuff like that that always gets lost in 'modern' games to 'appeal to a wider audience'. Really happy to hear that Espots will not be a focus. It will probably mean a more dead game pretty soon, but also a better one.

If they focus on Esports it means balance patches up the ass, lack of singleplayer modes to focus on the multiplayer, more DLC characters, seasons and funded tournaments.

Saw this too. Love how this gets no coverage compared to Ivy's boobs being 'stuck in the past' while a completely insane S&M male character is completely fine. Always liked his playstyle, very hard to read. Never really mained him though.

Jokes aside, one thing I'm noticing (and it could be nostalgia) but are the English VO's getting worse? Asteroth sounds absolutely hilariously bad, I remember him sounding pretty menacing in SCII in a weird Power Ranger's Goldar esque way.

Wasn't excited for this game, until Mi-na got announced yesterday! She's been my favorite since I played Soul Edge in the arcades, but like every Namco fighter, they tend to replace my favorites with a variant, like the Kilik and Forest Law effect.

I do agree about her costume, she's a bit too revealing (dat underboobage). However, they've been doing that to her, and other characters, since the second SoulCalibur game. I usually don't mind more skin, but I kinda wished they went with a design that's closer to her Soul Edge or Calibur 1 look.

I'm excited to see Astaroth as well since I always preferred him over Rock personally.

I like how she's getting a more unique moveset. Killik, after he got introduced, kind of stole and improved upon her moveset and she always felt 'left behind' to me. Seung Mi-na really seems to have come to her own. The revealed character artwork and screenshots do show that she doesn't really have a bikini though, it is more like a little rope covering her nipples: they are not ashamed of fanservice.
Weird that we live in a day and age where Dead or Alive might end up being the least sexual.

Seeing this game makes me laugh at how EVO banned some outfits from SFV and DOA5, yet Ivy's glorious 4k dominatrix ass is perfectly fine. Game looks like it is a joy to play, really feels like a return to form from its Soul Calibur II days.

To note, I have one gripe. The game interrupts gameplay far too much with zoom ins, special activations, cutscenes etc. They are fun the first time around but I can imagine they get really tiresome after as quick as two hours of play. That said 1:40:45 was lit.

Pretty uncool, might be so uncool that I will get it used instead of new. This practice is something I do not promote. Having a fully finished character, giving it a trailer and revealing her before some of the main cast and then saying "she's DLC, you have to pay extra for her" is just the definition of what I hate about current day gaming.

I was about to post the exact same thing. So far it looks really good but I'm also going to be honest that I'm not going to buy it right off the bat. Too many other things to play and after playing for a while I noticed I'll just like SC2 more (too many extra moves, supers, super animations in this one).

Not sure. I haven't fought anyone good. Sure I got beat down but that's more because I haven't played since SC2 and don't know what any of the others can do. No one has even juggles me except for this one Yoshimitsu player.

Otherwise, all the people I've fought are just hitting buttons.

I got beat down by a Talim player because I have no idea what Ivy can do at close range. As long as I kept Talim long to mid I was fine though.

Might wait to buy this. Bought Dead Rising this week so might look at buying it next week. Could possibly end up not buying at all and waiting for a full release after the season pass and when they've gone through all their patches.

It's most likely go through numerous buffs and nerfs before a final edition eventually releases. I'll ley everyone else deal with that lol.

It also occurred to me that a fighting game would not be a very good option considering I'm trying to cut down my backlog and get guides done.

A fighting game is an ongoing time sink, and I'm only interested in playing online. But skill must be gained and maintained meaning I'd have to be playing it most of the time.

That is my biggest gripe with Fighting Games these days, they are a long term investment but also one that is constantly changing. When I bought a fighting game originally I could just dive in on and off, but now you need to stay aware of updates, patches, changes and all that. New characters that you can only practice against if you spend money on them too, all that jazz. Never liked that.

The plus side is the replay value being insane, but I feel like it would be a really bad idea at this point.
I hope the online doesn't die too soon.

Also, it's $109.99 here for the basic version. I could get 4 Dead Rising games for less.

Im glad I didnt end up buying this. Scrubs own fighting games now. All I read is complaints and who should be buffed/nerfed (which equates to 'whoever is beating the shit out of me the most today') so the poor little casuals never have to learn actual game mechanics and can keep winning by doing nothing but pressing buttons. I dont think I'll ever play another fighting game.

That's my biggest complaint about the whole community as well, and the genre since they bend to their will. People don't know when to learn and when to ask for a fix. Something can indeed call for a fix (like a Feilong Infinite against Abel in Street Fighter 4), but most of the time it is just 'I don't know you can just do x against that tactic, so let me complain en mass'. I remember in Street Fighter 4 there was a jump setup from Gouken, he'd do a command-jump that could either become a parry, kick, sweep or grab. If you stood you were vulnerable to two of them, same with crouching. So everyone complained and it got nerfed, while you could just jump back on reaction and you would win the encounter every time. One simple google search was all that was needed (or some time in the lab). I talked to a few SC6 players and most said "great game, but needs rebalancing" which just made me sigh.

One thing of note of SC6 that does need fixing I heard is that custom-created characters (CaS) have different rules for physics and thus combos. Some combos that would work on every character might not work against a CaS character due to their different proportions. Very annoying I am sure. Instead of not making these characters usable in Ranking now they are handing out bans to those that abuse it. Fan-fucking-tastic. Glad I skipped it. I'll stick to SCII on the Gamecube.
